Business and Partners

Uptown boasts tremendous resources and opportunities for developers and entrepreneurs.

New investment in our primary commercial corridors has brought development such as Wilson Yard, with one of the busiest Target stores in the Chicago region.
No wonder - businesses in Uptown benefit from a large customer base at all times of day and night: thousands of professionals from our colleges, hospitals and nonprofit agencies grabbing lunch or shopping, concert-goers looking for dinner or drinks with their show, 20,000 students at Truman College seeking class materials or a snack and, of course, a large and diverse group of residents seeking the convenience of shopping locally.

“We like where the neighborhood is going and how
diverse the community is. Everyone is really
friendly and it hasn't taken us long to build a solid
client base like the one we left in Lakeview. I would
definitely encourage others to bring their business to Uptown. They won’t be disappointed.”

- Adel Shaw, Spoil Me Salon & Spa

Businesses in Uptown also benefit from our active business community and
Special Service Area, which provides 7-day a week street and sidewalk cleaning as well as marketing activities and beautification initiatives.

“The Uptown community has been a great partnership for Target.
The community enjoys the shopping convenience as well as the
employment opportunities. Most of our employees are within a
two mile radius of Uptown.”

- Sunda Obendorf, Target Wilson Yard

With three El stations, easy access to Lake Shore Drive putting downtown just minutes away, and multiple heavily-used bus routes, getting to Uptown couldn’t be easier for customers and employees. Still, Uptown’s commercial rates are significantly lower than adjacent neighborhoods, giving you access to customers from Lakeview, Andersonville and Ravenswood at a fraction of the price.

Found in Uptown

Here are specialties, items of interest, or goods you can find around Uptown.
Found: Lures at Park Bait Co.

Nestled in Lincoln Park just between Montrose Harbor and Montrose Beach and due east of Uptown is a find that one wouldn’t necessarily expect in an urban setting, Park Bait Company (600 W Montrose Ave, 773-371-2838).  These lures can be purchased along with many other supplies an angler would need for a reeling in that big catch, or lamenting the one that got away!
