Found in Uptown: Ten Thousand Ripples

Uptown has a few new residents for the next several months, with more expected soon!  The sculptures are one area artist's interpretation of peace which seeks to create peaceful dialogue both in our community and beyond.  Ten Thousand Ripples is a collaboration of the artist, Indira Freitas Johnson and local stakeholders and has six sculptures residing around Uptown now with four more to follow!  Check out some of the sculptures or one of the surrounding events thru summer 2013!

Found: Renegade Art

The former Majestic Men's Store at 1124 W. Leland is awaiting transformation as part of the major CTA renovation of the Wilson El tracks and station, but in the meantime check out the cool applique piece sprucing up the structure.  Thanks, stealth artist, wherever you are!

Found: Bloody Mary Fixins'

Fat Cat, at 4840 N. Broadway, is a great spot for an after show drink, but their brunches really kick it up a notch.  Check out the rolling Bloody Mary bar, and make sure you peek at the amazing photo wall in the back of the restaurant - a mini-museum of Uptown history.

Found: "Mickey Mouse" Boots
Planning a trip to a cold climate?  Then make A-Z Wallis Army Navy Depot a stop on your agenda first and pick up a pair of Extreme Cold Vapor Barrier Boots!  Also commonly referred to Bunny Boots (White) or as in the photo here, Mickey Mouse boots.  These boots withstand the cold down to -20 degrees Farenheit and are an essential item when planning a trip.  Or maybe just for the average January in Chicago!
Found: Lures at Park Bait Co.

Nestled in Lincoln Park just between Montrose Harbor and Montrose Beach and due east of Uptown is a find that one wouldn’t necessarily expect in an urban setting, Park Bait Company (600 W Montrose Ave, 773-371-2838).  These lures can be purchased along with many other supplies an angler would need for a reeling in that big catch, or lamenting the one that got away!

Found: Pastries at Ba Le

Those who know Ba Le Sandwich and Cafe know it for the fusion of cuisine staples from around the world.  Their Banh Mi (sandwiches) on French Baguettes may be stuffed with Lemongrass Pork, Jalapeños and Pickled Daikon, to name just one.  But what may get overlooked is the pastry cabinet just beyond the registers!  Satisfy your sweet tooth with one of their fruit topped pastries, cakes or whipped cream covered mousse offerings while also enjoying the view of Argyle St from their outdoor cafe!
