Pride Month in Uptown a Hit!
This June -- and especially its last full weekend -- was a big time for Uptown's LGBT community. This year, the annual Chicago Pride Parade extended its route northward from Lakeview into Uptown. The Parade organizers used parts of Montrose Ave. and Broadway as line-up area and the Parade itself began its official route at the Broadway/Montrose/Sheridan intersection.
In addition, two other smaller but important LGBT events were held last weekend in Uptown - Chicago Dyke March and Montrose Rocks.
In conjunction with The Center on Halsted, Uptown United, Uptown SSA#34, and Business Partners - The Chamber for Uptown, collaborated on special streetpole banners, theUptownProud.org website, the first Uptown LGBT pub crawl, and more.
The mix of activities during Pride Month added vibrancy to Uptown's streets and businesses. Enjoy some scenes from Uptown's Pride Month 2012.
